this two-hour conversation between Jon Stewart and Geoffrey Hinton

It’s equal parts hilarious, humbling, and honestly awe-inspiring. Stewart manages to draw out not just the 

 — how it mirrors us, how it might think and feel in ways not so different from us, and what it means to create something that can reason, reflect, and maybe even care.

You don’t need a Ph.D. in computer science or a background in calculus to get it. You just need curiosity. Hinton’s explanations are so grounded and human like he’s like a monk of machine learning and Jon Stewart, as always, is inquisitive and hilarious.

If you’ve been trying to explain to friends or family what’s happening in AI right now (without losing them to jargon), 

. It’s one of the most accessible and emotionally honest conversations about the nature of intelligence I’ve seen in a long time.
