About the Talk:
Join OpenAI Forum to hear from college freshman Ryan Honary about how he uses ChatGPT to help detect wildfires. After seeing news of the Camp Fire in fifth grade, Ryan began experimenting with a few wires, a heat detector, and a hair dryer. That science project became SensoRy AI, a system that detects the first signs of fire. ChatGPT helps interpret the sensor data so firefighters can identify a potential fire and respond quickly. We’ll talk with Ryan about how he built the system with input from firefighters and what changed when he started using ChatGPT. The conversation will be followed by live audience Q&A.
About the Speaker:
Ryan Honary, Founder, SensoRy AI
Ryan Honary is the founder of SensoRy AI and a freshman at Stanford University. He began developing wildfire detection technology as a science project inspired by California’s wildfires. Working with firefighters, he developed the project into a sensor network now being deployed in Southern California. He also founded Climate Solutions Society, a nonprofit that helps teenagers build technology to address environmental problems.
