I’d love to hear more about your AI model and how you’re leveraging it to shorten those lengthy wait times. Do you work with the parents or pediatricians? 

Yes, there is a youth mental health crisis. 

1 in 4 teens struggles with a mental health concern, and suicide is the third leading cause of death among youth. 

I've been researching this issue for the past two years and, after speaking with over 100 parents, I've found that in the US, when a teen encounters a problem, the first point of contact is often the pediatrician with 3 to 6 months of waiting list. Direct access to a psychologist typically requires out-of-pocket expenses. This system leaves both teens and parents overwhelmed and stressed.

I have reviewed studies showing that pediatricians are often overburdened and may not have sufficient mental health training. As a clinical psychologist, I have developed AI tools to support pediatricians in screening youth for mental health issues.
