In my recent study published in Innovative Higher Education (

), we surveyed 982 students and 76 faculty at Virginia Tech to explore their perceptions and use of GenAI in higher education.

No significant difference in GenAI-related perceptions between students and faculty.

The overall GenAI usage was fairly low at the time of the survey (Fall 2023).

STEM vs. Non-STEM students showed notable differences in both perceptions and usage.
