I wanted to share a project that’s grown out of my work as a high school teacher at a school for twice-exceptional (2E) students. I’ve been experimenting with real-time, speech-to-speech AI to support autistic teens — especially those who struggle with social communication — and it’s turned into something a lot bigger than I originally imagined.

What started as a way to help students feel more confident in social situations has evolved into a broader platform called 

. The idea is to use AI to build creative, speech-to-speech experiences that support not just communication skills, but academic learning, behavior, and emotional engagement by empowering educators and clinicians to create the experiences they feel support individual well-being best themselves.

 — a goofy math AI activity that makes solving equations feel more like playing a game than doing homework.

 It guides students through problems step-by-step in a way that’s structured with embedded learning objectives, but also keeps it fun and personalized. What’s cool is how easy it was to build the experience using AI tools — Navi (my GPT powered chatbot) helped write the prompts, test the flow, and even fine-tune the character’s voice. I've even had students use it for conversational voice journaling to help them be more self-reflective and improve their ability to communicate their needs to families and other care professionals.

Since then, I’ve been exploring other use cases in academic and behavioral settings, and I’m really excited by how much potential there is to make learning and support more imaginative and human-centered. The key is putting it in the hands of care professionals who have the best understanding of local knowledge and needs.
